Brief History

The year was 1969 when Ken first became interested in irrigation particularly as it related to the very early development of the Centre Pivot Concept which was taking place in the South East of S A, these systems were primitive, however despite this there was a realisation the concept had the potential to totally change irrigation practices.

In 1979 Caldecott Irrigation Services was formed after Ken visited the US and during that visit he arranged for the company to import, distribute and service the Raincat Systems, in effect CIS had become one of the "Put a Letter of Credit in Place and wait for the Container Brigade" a situation the family company was not comfortable with and further having to rely on an overseas manufacturer to meet the expanding needs of the Australian Irrigation Industry.

Some 10 years were to pass before CIS were able to commence an Import Replacement Program by manufacturing the first AUSRAIN Centre Pivot System in July 1995 this system was installed on Mr Graham Douglas’s Dairy Farm at Mount Gambier in Sept of that year and has since completed some 20,000 virtually trouble free hours. (This system is featured on the introduction page of this website)

Over the next 2 years we were to exceed our sales target resulting in a decision being made to form Irrigation Systems and Components Australia Pty Ltd to manufacture the Ausrain Equipment, and relocate to new premises at Murray Bridge, with manufacturing commencing in November 1999.

Since 1995 Ausrain systems have been installed in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW, Queensland and Sth Aust with the machine gaining a reputation of being structurally amongst the best available, this comment has come from producers who own imported systems and others who have taken the time and trouble to look beyond the bottom cost line.

The first Ausrain Lateral Move System has been produced and is operating successfully.

ISCA is committed to

  • Maintaining the structural strength and build of the Ausrain Systems.
  • Produce systems to meet the individual requirements of Australian Producers.
  • Provide a customised system management package developed locally to cater for the individual requirements of producers and their crops.
  • To be able to despatch within 24Hrs any AUSRAIN component FOB Murray Bridge (Indeed we have and still do offer any Raincat owner replacement pipe and other components on a 24 Hr FOB Murray Bridge service)

We all appreciate just how important the Water Resources are, therefore it is essential that we adopt and use returns per Mega litre of Water Used, as the benchmark by which irrigation Best Practice is determined; ISCA is committed to achieving this objective through the use of moisture monitoring technology linked into the management of the system, with remote start and computer management R&D in this technology is currently being undertaken.

We invite you to compare the structural build of the AUSRAIN systems against our competitors. also the galvanising quality which is an added feature by exceeding the ISO 9002 standard.

ISCA also offers replacement pipe and other structural components for most of the imported systems, this includes Centre Drives, Gearboxes and components which will retrofit most machines currently in operation in Australia.

The next objective is to appoint accredited and dedicated Irrigation Sales & Service Centres prepared to become part of an all Australian Team.
